The Government has targeted improvement of employment of parents and has decided to do so by allowing greater flexibility in the use of parental leave. The new measures include the possibility – part of the Decree overhauling contract types – for the worker to ask for, as an alternative to leave, transformation from fulltime employment to part-time for a corresponding period, and with a maximum reduction of work hours of 50%, within the limits of leave still owed. It should be noted that this is a structural measure that does not require new financial resources to be allocated, and as such is final.
