The equality between women and men: stronger sanctions

On 20th February next, it will come in to force the rules contained in the Legislative Decree no. 5/2010 implementing the EU Directive no. 54/2006 concerning equal of opportunities and treatment between women and men at work. The new text of the decree strengthens the principle according to which the equality of treatment and opportunity between women and men must be guaranteed in all areas, including employment, work, compensation, and provides for stricter sanctions. Among the news introduced, indeed, it is worth noting the increase of sanctions now consisting of fines for employers up to EUR 50,000 or imprisonment up to six months.
