{"id":24507,"date":"2021-01-27T08:46:04","date_gmt":"2021-01-27T07:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.delucapartners.it\/news\/riders-programmed-algorithm-discrimination\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T15:55:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T13:55:27","slug":"riders-programmed-algorithm-discrimination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.delucapartners.it\/en\/insights\/case-law-en\/riders-programmed-algorithm-discrimination\/","title":{"rendered":"Riders: programmed algorithm discrimination"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Court of Bologna, by order of 31 December 2020, upheld the appeal brought by three trade unions confederated to CGIL (Filt, Filcams and Nidl) against the company Deliveroo, describing the access conditions to the digital platform as discriminatory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Court, <strong>the work slots booking system penalised those absent from work, without considering the reasons<\/strong> for their absence. According to the algorithm adopted by the company, the score of each delivery rider was reduced when they (i) did not log in to the platform 15 minutes before the start of the session and went to the work area, or (ii) cancelled the booking session with less than 24 hours\u2019 notice.
