The draft of the Legislative Decree overhauling contracts examined last 20 February by the Council of Ministers would result in some significant changes in policies for reconciling free time and work. One of these is an extension of the time for the right to time off to care for natural or adopted children, until they are twelve (and no longer eight), with an extension of the connected economic treatment (30% of the salary during the half year) from the first three years of the child’s life to the first six years. Another important change is related to the extension of maternity leave for freelance workers, agricultural industry workers and professional freelancers.
