THE LAW DECREE “DESTINATION ITALY” INCREASED THE PENALTIES (IL SOLE 24 ORE, JANUARY 20, 2014, P 34)

The article 14 of Law Decree "destination Italy", into force since 24 December 2013, has heavily increased the penalties for undeclared and irregular employment and the violations of rules on daily and weekly rests and working time. The Ministry of Labour, in the note dated 27 December 2013, summarized the new amounts and timing of their application. In particular, the amount of administrative penalties for irregular employing workers (so called “in nero”), or employees without prior notification of the recruitment to the Local Labour Authority (“Centro per l’impiego”), was increased by 30% while the penalties for failure to comply of the average duration of working time as well as of daily and weekly rests were increased in the measure of ten times.
